Add to your GOOD "to-do" list
It’s easier than you think to take charge of your health. These days, if you have a smartphone you can find thousands of apps that help you easily keep track of your meals and workouts. But apps are going beyond the basics, with ones for diabetics, yoga, 5k training, and tracking medical records. Not sure where to start? Check out some of the apps below:

General Fitness Apps:

My Fitness Pal (iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows)
A simple diet and fitness app, My Fitness Pal allows you to track your meals and snacks along with workouts. It calculates calories burned versus calories consumed so you’ll always know if it’s time to hit the gym, or maybe indulge a little.

See Me Get Fit (iOS)
Aptly named, this app allows users to literally see their bodies change as they lose weight and tone up. Using photos, the app uses physical progression as motivation to reach your goals while tracking weight, diet and exercise.

GymPact (iOS, Android)
If you find it tough to hold yourself accountable to hit the gym, consider getting paid for it. GymPact users check in at the gym using the app, or outdoors on partner app RunKeeper, and receive money in return for each work out—if you miss one, you’ll have to pay up.

Specialty Apps:

Pocket Yoga (iOS, Android)
Take a yoga instructor with you anywhere. Pocket Yoga offers 27 different workouts, with voice and image-guided sessions.

Zombies, Run! (iOS, Android)
When you find yourself unmotivated, Zombies, Run! might help you get going. With more than 60 missions, this app immerses you in both a story and game while you run outside or at the gym.

Dario (iOS, Android)
For those with diabetes, Dario helps patients manage their disease. Able to sync with the Dario meter, the app and web platform tracks and charts blood glucose levels, eating habits, exercise and medications, enabling patients to easily share data with their healthcare team.

ZocDoc (iOS, Android)
If you’ve ever moved to a new city you know how long it can take to find, and get in with a doctor. ZocDoc helps improve this painstaking process by connecting you with doctors, dentists, and specialists who have open appointments based on your location and insurance.

MotherKnows (iOS)
While your doctors keeps your records in their offices, you can bring them all together in one place with the MotherKnows app. Geared toward parents, the app collects medical records for your doctors so you can have access to copies during emergencies, vacations or after moving.

If you don’t want to manually enter your stats into an app, there are wearable devices that automatically measure and track your health status:

Fitbit
With three different wearable health monitors and a scale, Fitbit offers an option for everyone. Monitor your daily activity, sleep, and other goals with wristbands and click trackers that sync to a dedicated app.

UP by Jawbone
Like Fitbit, the UP by Jawbone tracks your daily activity and sleep, with additional features such as an idle alert, signaling you to get up and move, and an alarm clock. But what makes it more accessible is it syncs to a multitude of apps, including MyFitnessPal, RunKeeper and Wello.
